The ValueCommerce Premium Partners Summit 2025 – The Dawn of Narrative Marketing: What Empathy Will Mean for the Future of Advertising –

On Friday, May 23, 2025, ValueCommerce Co., Ltd. (Head office: Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo; Representative Director, President and CEO: Jin Kagawa) hosted the ValueCommerce Premium Partners Summit 2025 at the ANA Intercontinental Hotel Tokyo. The 2025 summit marks the first time in six years the event was held in person, and industry leaders shared their vision and specific solutions under the theme of narrative marketing, which generates empathy through affiliate and social commerce marketing. EC and affiliate site operators that used ValueCommerce Affiliate (https://www.valuecommerce.ne.jp/) in 2024 were also recognized with awards.

Taku Hasegawa, ValueCommerce’s Director in charge of Marketing Solutions Business, delivered the keynote speech, and in his speech, entitled “Shifts in Advertising and the Dawn of Narrative Marketing,” he spoke about the issues facing advertising today and the potential for narrative marketing to serve as a solution to these issues.

“Narrative” in narrative marketing refers to storytelling. As advertising has increasingly been shunned in pursuit of efficiency, ValueCommerce proposed a new approach, transforming ads into co-created stories with fans that resonate emotionally, build trust, and inspire action.

The second session included a talk session between EC sites, point-reward media, and social media influencers on the following theme: The Key to Taking On Social Media – How to Create Empathetic Distribution.
Many specific examples were shared, including expected results of social media use for EC sites, methods used by influencers to create empathy, the latest trends, and changes in media due to the use of social media. It was an opportunity to gain practical hints on how to create and spread empathy.

The third session was a collaboration between ValueCommerce and visumo Inc.
In the first half, ValueCommerce’s Tomohiko Tsuchiya spoke about what is important when choosing influencers. The key to spreading empathy is to have passionate people speak as if the story were their own, which produces fans and drives the cycle of empathy. Tomohiko talked about how this is key to successful narrative marketing and introduced two services: Castbook (https://castbook.jp/) and monicam (https://monicam.jp/).

In the second half of the session, there was a talk by visumo Inc. on using UGC to create revenue. In the talk, audience members were introduced to results directly linked to revenue through posting UGC on EC sites, including improvements in dwell time, browsing rate, purchase rate, and purchase unit price.

In the fourth session, Rakuten Group, Inc. introduced new value offered by point sites. In this talk, audience members heard about platforms combining product searches and affiliates, as well as the value of offering a streamlined experience from discovery to purchase.
