Press Release

Launch of a Proof-of-Concept Trial Aimed at Delivering a Seamless Travel Experience Using the Web3 Registration Card Codeveloped by ValueCommerce and UPBOND

ValueCommerce Co., Ltd. (Head office: Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo; Representative Director, President and CEO: Jin Kagawa) is conducting a proof-of-concept trial using the in-development Web3 Registration Card*¹ with the goal of delivering a seamless travel experience, which began on Friday, April 18, 2025.
With the Web3 Registration Card, once a user has registered, they will no longer need to fill out a new registration card even if they stay at a different accommodation that has introduced this service*², allowing for self-check-in.
This will provide a better travel experience for users and will allow lodging facilities to devote more time to providing valuable customer service.

Problems faced by the tourism industry
In January 2025, the number of inbound tourists exceeded 3.78 million, a 40.6% increase compared to the same month the previous year, setting a new record*3. Some inbound tourists visit Japan multiple times, staying for extended periods and traveling to various locations across the country. They often feel frustrated by the repeated procedures required at each new accommodation, such as filling out registration cards, presenting their passports, confirming their identities, and completing check-in at the front desk.
Lodging facilities also face challenges, as inbound tourists come from a variety of countries, requiring multilingual support at the front desk. There is a desire to reduce front desk procedures for each guest so that staff can devote more time to providing hospitality.

What is Possible with the Web3 Registration Card After Registration
After booking, guests will receive guidance regarding registering for a Web3 Registration Card which combines the functionality of a registration card with the next-generation Web3.0*⁴ concept for the Internet that enables guests to manage their own data independently, without having their personal information centralized by any specific organization.
When using the Web3 Registration Card, guests use a smartphone to register passport information, photo, and other information in advance. When checking in, a guest selectively shares registered information, and the lodging facility uses this information to confirm the guest’s reservation and obtain and record the guest’s personal information. The Web3 Registration Card is also compatible with multiple languages*⁵, providing a smoother check-in experience for both guests and staff.

Less time spent at the front desk for guests and staff.

The Web3 Registration Card is based on the Login3.0*⁶ technology, which allows users to independently manage their personal information and control who that data is provided to. When traveling, users can avoid troublesome data entry by selectively providing only the necessary information to external services linked with the Web3 Registration Card system. This enhances convenience and satisfaction throughout the entire travel experience, including accommodations. Guests can use the service securely, as they can track and manage where their personal data is shared.

Overview of the demonstration test
This proof-of-concept trial will reverify the following functions planned for the Web3 Registration Card service.

In accordance with ordinances in Kyoto*⁷, where this proof-of-concept trial is being conducted, passport photo verification must be performed in person by hotel staff at the front desk, and approved by the facility.
